Default beginner question

at the risk of sounding increadibly stupid, are all bar ends the same on all models of bikes? I've been searching for some and I dont really see any model specific, the ones i do find that are model specific are for yamaha and suzuki. I'm looking at these http://www.cyclegear.com/lpgm.cfm?L1...em=MRX_CBEBK_G
and am wondering if honda have a different bolt up then the suzukis and yamaha's?

I'm not positive, but I think they are, even different from a CBR to VFR.

why are you looking for bar ends? You may want to look at these http://www.hvmp.com/

alot of people use these on the 600's because the bars get very "buzzy" and these help to eliminate it

The bar ends for the F4i's are bike specific (or specific to Honda). They internal weights in the clip-on's have a half cresent, that mates with a half cresent on the bar end.

Bar ends are used to reduced vibration in the handle bar (or clip on). Switching to a lighter material will only make vibrations more apparant. I had some polished AL bar ends, but I had to switch back to stock because the vibrations were killing my hands on long rides.

i need bar ends because i took my bike out after a week off on a cold day and forgot to let the tires warm up, barely made it 20 ft out of my garage before the rear end slipped out from under me and when it went down it bent the clutch and broke off the bolt that holds the bar end into the hand grip. I have no clue how im going to get it out, like every single thread is still in the hand grip.

Your best bet would be to replace the weight that the bar end connects to inside the clip on. Otherwise you would have to drill out the screw and retap the weight. Although, if enough of the screw is sticking out, you could use a dremmel and cut a slot into the end of it and then use a screw driver to try and turn it out.

Check this post out for reference:

Second post down has a diagram of the clip on assembly.

You can buy a tool called an EZ out that will get almost any bolt out, especially small easy ones. Get yourself a small drill bit, and like a prom date, open her up and tap your tool in. Then unthread the bolt. it's EZ. Really. =)
