Default is the heat sheild needed?

I added an RT-1 Slip on exhaust to my 07. the instructions said to remove the heat shield. now the bottom fairing gets so hot i cant touch it. is it normal to get that hot? im afraid of melting it? i tried to reinstall the heat sheild but it doesnt fit with the new exhaust. any ideas???

the yosh system comes with a bunch of aluminum foil sticky tape stuff that your supposed to line the underside with.

the only system i know of that comes with it..

try going to your local hardware store and see if they have any..

this is the best pic i have of it..

Yep, just get that aluminum tape stuff. They sell it at Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. I think a roll of it is somewhere along the lines of 5-8 bucks.

wrap it in exhaust wrap if you're worried. I've had my heat shielf off for awhile now.

I went to a local race shop and picked up some firewall material they use in the nascar cup cars, cut it into strips and gorilla glued it to the underside of the battery tray.. Works like a charm. The seat still gets hot however, but not nearly as hot as it could..
