your tank fairing HAS to be just out of place thats crazy. do the sides of the tank look out of place???? crazy wierd. the only way it could have shrunk in is if your engine moved..... which is absurd... and even then it wouldnt do all that.

Well, bizzare as it sounds....

I didn't have anything sink in. But when i bought my bike there was a dent in the tank. One day the dent mysterious-ly disappeared...Must have been the weather? I have no idea.

did you take off the plastics to check the tank?

Maybe someone tried to steal your tank cover or something?!? It has to be the plastics...

I havent taken the fairings off yet to see if a bolt or something is missing or loose. I didnt visually see any part of the plastics loose or bowing upwards or anything of that nature. Im trying to shy away from the idea that someone was trying to steal my fairings but it is definately a possibility. I thought it was a bizarre thing that it was fine one night and messed up the next... Time to get my hands dirty to find out whats up. thanks for all the feedback

Okay I have some answers to my prior problem. I took off the fairings and gas tank cover. Discovered that 16000 miles ago when I laid the bike down, I put a nice size dent in the gas tank itself. Until recently, nothing ever went wrong until the weather changed. Then the plastics took their own course off of the gas tank itself or I suppose the metal took its own course as the weather changed. So anyway, found a guy on this site actually parting out a bike, got a tank from him and installed it with minimal trouble. Only problem i encountered was the fact he didnt unlock the cap on the tank, so i had to drill thru the locking mechanism to get it open. So now I have a nice flush gas tank and cover like it is brand new.

Thanks to everyone on this forum for making life easier.... The dealership wanted 500 bucks for a new tank and 120 for install..... but because people use this forum, i found it for under a hundred bucks.
