Default Gas shut off

I'm about to remove my gas tank to troubleshoot my alternator. I've only had the bike for about a week and this is my first one. I have have no idea where the gas shut off is. I was looking for something similar to an ATV gas shut off but have yet to find it, it's an 04. Thanks!

as far as iknow they only have the fuel cut off valves on cruisers and dirtbikes and atv...but i had to re route my throttle cable and i was able to just unbolt the gas tank and just move it out the way..that should be enough space to work on the alternator..but i think you'll find it easier to just remove the right fairings and you should have plenty of space

What alt. are you talking about? Do you mean the stator on the left side? If so , then there should be no reason to move the gas tank. You should just be able to take the fairing and stator cover off. The only thing you have to worry about spilling is oil that will come out when the stator cover is taken off.

If you need to take off the tank and fuel runs out just get some vice grips, bend/fold therubber fuel line and clamp them on. Don't clamp them to hard as if the fuel line is folded no fuel should run out. I haven't taken the tank out of my cbr but I have had other fuel injected bikes that didn't leak fuel as the fuel pump was in the tank and only works when there is power. ie, the key turned on. Unplug the fuel pump and it doesn't work. See how you go It really shouldn't be a problem if you used the vice grips.

In another post pertaining to an alternator problem, someone with a haynes manual posted some troubleshooting steps, one of them was to remove the gas tank and disconnect a yellow 3 prong connector. That is why I am taking off my gas tank. Thanks for the replies.

which is true, but you don't physically need to remove the tank. it rotates rearward to expose what you need.
