Default First Oil Change

Okay, Im doing my first oil servicing.

Being that the Honda stealer is booked up for like 2 weeks before they can even look at my bike, and the fact it will end up being well over a $100 for them to do it, I decided to do it myself.

I've never worked on a bike before, I change oil in my car everytime.

Any tips? Anything I should be looking for IE: THe little metal shavings. EVERY tip/suggestion welcome!!!!

Off to buy oil and a filter.

-Martin out!-

Don't use Fram oil filters. Make sure the oil you buy isn't "energy conserving"

Your oil shouldn't have a lable like this:

Other than that, you should be good to go!

Well, the oil change is complete.

Fairly easy, considering I'd never even taken the fairings off before.

Only one problem I found a left over nut plate. I do not know if its even off my bike or what. Ill post up a pick.

Run engine for about 2-3 minutes before dripping the used oil!!This will make all the dirty oil warm up in the engine and come out of the motor easily!
tilt the bike to the sides..making sure to keep the balance
--this will empty alsmost all the used oil from the motor!!
Good luck

It looks like a spacer used to keep from over-tightening something. I would guess that is came off of a bolt that connects your fairing.

Hope that helps.

one of the bolts you removed to remove the fairing has that piece to keep you from crushing your plastic with your screw. Now what you are looking for is a screw where the size of the threads is way too small for the size hole it goes into. This screw will be a straight screw, not one that has a built in collar. And that piece goes in form the inside, the wide part facing the motor! Hope this helps.

Ya, I had the same thing fall out on me when I was putting in my sliders. It's just a piece that fits in the fairing hole.... i'm guessing so the fairing screw can't move around in there. The one that fell out on mine was on the bottom right side fairing.
