Default RE: downshifting

I've been riding for awhile and I've got a quick question actually. When coming to a complete stop is it bad for the bike to just down shift a bunch of gears rather than cycling through them? As in keeping the clutch held down and downshifting all the way to first as my speed gradually drops ? I remember someone telling me its better for the bike to, say from 3rd, clutch in, downshift to second, then let off the clutch, then pull in the clutch again and downshift to first. Anyone wanna clear this up for me?

Hmm, I dont think its actually bad for it, but then again I am not sure. I rarely clutch when downshifting (except into first), so I go down in order. Its not bad to drop from 6th to 4th on the highway to take off, so I do not see why multiple gear downshifting when coming to a stop would be a problem.

As long as you are matching RPM's you will never hurt the clutch. If you want to downshift from 5th to 3rd you just have to get the rpm's a little higher. However, if you're just coming to a stoplight i don't see a reason to do this.
