Default Correct temperature for motor????

I have a slight issue with my 2004 CBR600RR... Well I am not too sure if its an issue or not.... Anyways the motor gets to about 230 degrees!!! Is that right??? I checked the coolant, and plenty of that in their, the bike idles some where between 1800 and 1900 rpms... I dont really ride my bike alot, but it just started doing this today. This is exactly what happened I went to turn my bike on and check a couple of things, I left it running for a bout 15-20 minutes, then checked the temperature and was like HOT DAMN!!! So could the hot temperature been because of the bike being stationary??? Thats what I am assuming but I am unsure. If any one has any idea of what this may be..... fill me in please. Or if this is normal, also fill me in please... Either way some one fill me in please.... Gracias, gratzi, salekum salam, Thanks......

230 is not an issue. your bike is fine. these motors are very compact combined with a plastic shell and no windflow will get you to high 220s in no time. my only question is why run it for 15-20 mins in a stationary position. but anyway don't worry about it much

p.s. there are many topics on this subject on this forum, many of which have been posted within the last few days, try a search and you'll see

To get the engine up to a PROPER engine temperature before running it. Starting it up and taking off isn't good. you should always allow yourself the extra 5-7 minutes to get the temp up. Personally, i wait until the Water temp is at a minimum of 70C

Your idle is high. I think hoda recommends around 1300 rpm.

I would worry if it stayed ta 230 all the time. Does it ever get below 200? I live in Florida and mine is usually between 185 and 200 and it will get to 230 in traffic but once I'm outta traffic it drops back down.

Maybe it's just me, but my bike will hit 70c in about 2-3 mins. About the time it takes me to put my jacket, helmet and gloves on. By the time I back it out of the drive way I easily can hit 80c. I'm just wondering if he was working on something specific (looking for an exhaust leak, listening for a noice, etc) to run it for that long. Either way I guess it's good prep if your gonna be down at bike week or something, cause their 2 hours of idle isn't uncomon.

Mine fan kicks in about 218 or so...i still remember the first day out when i seen 225 on the temp and freeked ..thought i was gonna have an issue right there in traffic..LOL..i run on the norm about 177 on straight out runs...no traffic lights or congestion.I think youre idle may be a lil too high also...M.O.M. says 130 rpms....

I have noticed a a incresase in temp on my 06 600rr as well by I believe it has to do with the unusualy high temps everyday. As long as mine doesnt get over about 230 and the light doesnt come on I am not worried cause the bike still runs fine. I have also noticed that with the high temps outside I am getting worse gas temps but again that is due to the hot air going into the engine causing predetination.

My bike at most reaches 225 and stays there, that is when the fan kicks in.
