Default Bunch of rookie questions. Heat shield removal and how to measure oil.

Ill make it short and quick. In order to remove the heat shield on an 03 600rr do I need to unbolt stuff or can I just looses the screws and pull it off? also I just had an oil change with 3 quarts. I stood the bike straight up and the oil is no where close to the middle circle. Do I need the oil to go past the top line? thanks.

In order to remove the heat shield you have to take off the exhaust and at least on my 07 you have to remove the rear cowl in order to take off the exhaust. If you have a stock pipe on it then there is no reason to remove the heat shield. For the oil there is a bottom line and a top line on the sight glass. You want the oil to be in between those two line when the bike is upright. If you don't see any oil then add some more but be careful cause if you added 3 qt it should be pretty close to full.
