Default 2018 600RR comfort/riding position question

Hey everyone, I’m in the market for a new bike. I’ve owned an ‘05 600RR and an 07 ZX6R. I sold the zx6 about 2 years ago and I had the Honda back in’05. So I haven’t ridden any of the newer models. I liked my Honda more than the ZX6 and so I’m leaning towards getting another one. I’m curious if anyone here rides a newer model 600RR and if so how’s the riding position, how low are the clip ons, is there a lot of weight on your wrists, etc? I didn’t much like the riding position of my ZX6 and I’m looking for a more “comfortable” bike. I know none of them are comfortable but some are better than others. Thanks for your input!

all the reviews of it say its the most civilized cockpit and riding position of all the major supersports. I found the Triumph Daytona 675 to have slightly lower pegs, but the clip-ons were way more aggressive, and to me, they didn't make the bike turn better. I actually couldn't go full lock at low speeds with it or my wrists would hit the top of the tank. it was a deal breaker. Loved the rest of the bike, but I don't just ride on the track. I take my bike to work, to the store, all sorts of other places where I need tight slow speed turns.

I have a fairly strong core and grip the tank with my knees often. If I didn't have the throttle to hold, I could easily ride with my hands off. So if you are not familiar with this, you will have weight on your hands. Of course if you have ridden sport bikes, you will be fine with this.

My only complaint really would be that the pegs are quite high. I get it we want ground clearance. I would have loved if they have 2 sets of mounting bosses on the frame. One for track days or really aggressive riding and one for more normal riding. I find after a long ride(full tank) my knees sometimes are sore. My old supersport didn't give me that issue. same seat height, but lower pegs. Maybe a bit back further too?

oh and the seat is pretty uncomfortable after longer rides. Hell, even half a tank will make me think about it, and have to move around on it to get comfortable. I do suspect that most of the others are just as bad.

Hey thanks for the reply. So you’re saying that the pegs on the 600RR are kinda high? I know some of the newer model super sports do have adjustable pegs but I guess the RR doesn’t. Does yours have the ABS? I’m willing to spend the extra money for the model with ABS. It’s actually one of my requirements for the next bike. And yea I’ve never ridden a bike with a comfortable seat. I can get an aftermarket one if needed. I’m more concerned with the clip on height and the general riding position. I’m 6’2” so I’m kind of tall so I’m not worried about the bike height

yea seats are easily replaceable. I will probably get a Saddleman or Corbin down the road.

Clip on height is fine by me, and if you are 6'2" they will be even more upright for you as your arms are longer.

Yep, the rear pegs/rearsets are high for me. Perfect for track, but would need to be a bit lower to be ideal on the street, especially for longer rides.

No REAL problem, but I'd rather they were down a bit.

It might be an issue if your legs match your 6'2" height. Some tall guys are all leg, some are mostly torso. I'm 5'10" and about even in the proportions dept.

So I went and sat on a few bikes yesterday. R6, R1, CBR600RR, CBR1000RR, gsxr750. The 600RR felt the best out of all of them. Thought the gsxr felt pretty good it was a 2017 model. The Yamahas didn’t feel good at all. No dealers near me have any new ZX6 or new Gsxr. And I’d really like to sit on the zx6 for the simple fact of all the tech it has on it. Traction control that the 600rr doesn’t have. And there was only one 600RR and it was not the ABS model and that’s a deal breaker. Which is why I doubt I’ll be getting a gsxr either because it has none of that at all

Gav0907, almost my identical reality too. I was really looking at the Z6R, as even the newest one is only about $12,500 in my area. Didn't have any. And no ABS on the GSXR 600/750.

and yes, the combined ABS brakes on the RR are amazing, at least to me.

I wish one of the manufacturers would make one bike with all the best stuff.

GSXR750 engine, CBR600RR chassis and CABS brakes, ZX6R tech package, and Yamaha's other good stuff.

Hell,I'd even be super happy if that bike had the 636 engine.

oh, and all the light weight, intelligent chassis design of the Triumph Daytona 675.
