Default tire question

hi all. its going to be time for a new rear tire on my 99 f4 pretty soon. currently im running a 190 avon. does anyone know how wide i can go without adversly effecting the handling characteristic if the bike? any advise would be greatly appriciated.

Your bike only has a 5.5" rim..designed for a 180/55-17...a 190 will work, but it slowing down your turning characteristics...as a rule never go over more that 1 size..

Yeah a 190 is a big tire and a cool looking one also. That should be the biggest you go.

thats kinda what i figured but i thought id better ask the pros. thanks guys, i'll stick to my 190. any suggestions on a tire that will work good in the twisties and still give me decent wear for long trips? i dont wanna buy a tire that will be shot after a couple of highway trips.

DUNLOP D208ZR MOTORCYCLE TIRE

SIZE: 190/50ZR17 REAR

I have had real good luck with this one, and find the wear life and tread grip to be B+, which is good for the price. Anyone like this will be fine. Like always burnouts and screwing around on bad pavement will kill ANY tire, so you should be fine.

But we will wait and have to see what sirlimpzalot says, since I as well as most of the other members consider him a specialist on most everything on motorcycles.
