I know its an old thread but out of interest, I have all the parts to do this now with the exception of the F4i battery tray, rare as rocking horse s**t unless you want to fork out for a new one. I am releuctant to do this as i want to install a bestem undertail, has anyone ever managed to mate up a delkevic f4i tail fairing, f4i subframe, f4 battery tray and bestem undertray?.
The F4 battery tray won't work. The are dif shapes. You need the F4i battery tray if you want to use an OEM battery tray.
The other option is to fab up a battery box from sheet aluminum. You could also use sheet aluminum for support of the undertail if needed. Many of the guys at the track do this to work w/ race plastics.
Fabbing a battery box from sheet aluminum make take you a little time but its easy & would allow you to get going on your conversion.
last week I fabricated a "undertail" I based mine of of "Sick97ss" tutorial. It wasnt hard at all. I would imagine it is the same thing just making it the entire length of the rear and creating a cradle for the battery. I say give it a shot. I used 22g sheet metal. Its pretty cheap so you can afford to screw up a few times. Good luck!
