Dead Cluster & Blowing Fuses
Hey Guys, i did some searching and it seems some people have had a similar problem, which was easily fixed by just replacing a blown 10a fuse.
I'll go into a little detail as to what happend. I went for a 30-45 minute ride, near the end of it i noticed my neutral light wasnt turning on. i just assumed it may have blown, didnt pay too much attention to it. I then noticed my blinkers werent working and neither were any of my gauges. i made it to my friends house. I checked the fuses and of course the 10a fuse which is for the tail light, blinkers, horn and cluster was blown. My friend had a spare so i popped it in and turned the key and perfect, all the lights worked. i tapped the horn and just as it honked, it blew again.
i changed it again and also noticed the 30a main fuse went too. so i changed that, but each time i put a new 10a fuse in, it blows again.
I'm about to head over to my friends house and have a look but just thought i'd ask on here as searching these forums have helped me a great deal.
My guess would be that maybe in time, one of the wires was touching something hot and slowly the insulation was being melted away until the metal from the wire touched whatever metal it was rubbing against?
bike has about 20k km hasnt seen any rain.
any thought would be greatly appreciated. like i said, i've done some searching and everyone seemed to fix it by just changing the blown fuse. i do that and it keeps happening.
thanks in advance.

Hmm obviously it is a short to ground, but the question is where ? I think your going to have to use a multi meter while taking your bike apart to isolate the forward wiring harness from the main one.
thanks for the reply and hopefully i don't find myself back on this thread seeking for answers.
Just thought I'd also mention when I was out on my ride before that happend, I kinda got stuck in sum pretty bumpy old broken up road. Lots of bumps and I noticed the problem happend soon after I passed that area.
I'm getting the same thing under hard acceleration now... today had 3 fuses go taking out the dash and indicators and trip computer... BUT just put a new Motobatt YTX9-BS... now, this is meant to be fine with my bike and a cracking quality battery replacing the cheap **** I had in it beforehand, BUT just wondering, this battery delivers 10.5Ah instead of the 8.0Ah my Haynes Manual says for the battery...
Could this be causing a problem? None of the other fuses have gone... just this one... and with it go the indicators, all dashboard lights/dials... and trip computer. Put new one in 3 times today... 1 went within 2 minutes, 1 lasted for a few hours, however, I've noticed it when I tank it, and I mean tank it from 2nd gear... noticed it seems to go then, might be coincidence?
Either way, any ideas, could a battery do this to one particular fuse? And does this 10.5A delivery fo the new battery make a difference? Can't think of anything else, checked all the wiring it's fine... and like I say, 3 fuses, all lasting different times BUT I would say they've gone when tanking it.
