Bike had rough idle now won't start
Hey all,
I have a 2000 Honda CBR F4. Bike was running fine. In the past few days it has gradually gotten worse. Idling choppy. When accelerating the exhaust sounds like its sputtering a little. It also now has a very strong fuel smell to it.
I called a bike shop and they informed me that I should drain the carb bowls and I did. I also replaced the spark plugs. Bike ran fine for about 10 minutes and then died. It now won't start and won't stay running.
Any idea's where I should begin at this point?
Thanks in advance.

What's your idle set to, check and make sure your choke /choke cable is working properly, if you have a service manual, it should have a troubleshooting section. I would check out what it says for a bike that is running rich. I'm sure I can think of more on the morning but its 4 am here
The choke appears to be working fine and we have tried adjusting idle up and down but when choke is off its running at 1000 rpm. I really think this may be a carb related thing but not 100% sure
it sounds like one but you still want your idle set to 1300rpm +/- 100 I would also eliminate the rest of the fuel system before jumping on the carbs just because they are a lot of work and it might end up being your fuel filter is clogged.
The fuel system is the tank, petcock, lines filter, pump and than the carbs.
Pull your plugs and check them out since it sounds like you have been using the bike a bit now, they will tell you a lot, see if they are fouled or white.
When you get on the throttle does smoke come out of the exhaust? when your exhaust sputters can you clear it by revving the throttle?
Hey while your at it check your vacuum lines and (if your in California) your emissions stuff that will often ruin performance.
