Bike Dies at 230 Degrees???
#22
I had a similar problem. I was stuck on a narrow street and couldn't get around the traffic. The fan went on at 220, off at 215 for about 15 minutes. After that, it stalled and would not start again. The symptom acted like a dead battery. After vanning the bike back, I 'reconditioned' the battery and haven't had an issue since (haven't been stuck in traffic since). Later that week, I asked a motocycle mechanic why it happened. He explained that, between an inexpensive battery, the electric fan going on and off and a stator not getting a proper charge while standing still in traffic, stalling should be expected. To remedy this, buy a good, more expensive battery and, while standing in traffic, keep the revs up to keep the stator working the way it should. I hope this helps.

i took it out around the streets redline in 1st, 2nd, nd didnt get to 3rd cause i was on the streets did that a couple of times and got temp up to bout 190-200 came home parked it threw it in nuetral and sat on the throttle till temp went up to 235-240... i have coolants no distilled water in the bike.... also i live in Southeren California where its always warm down here if i try to do it at nite no way would i have gotten the bike up that high have trouble getting temp pased 185 at nite just cause the air is so cold down here right now. i did it during the day and parked and throttled it in the sun so it had no time to or had a way of cooling itself besides what the bike has...
