I can see in the video that the choke lever is in the upright position, indicating that it's off. However that doesn't mean that it's properly adjusted and may in fact be on. Won't know until tank and air cleaner are off.

okay well i played with it just a little bit, i'll be taking it down to the carbs to check what you said about the butterflys. i know that when i reassembled the choke assy i double tripple checked it to make sure that it was sliding correctly, and from how the choke worked one my first cold start with the tank on i can only assume its function correctly, unless it got stuck open and now isnt responding when i move it to off. as for the idle cable, i twisted it till it came undone with no change in idle speed, and actually when i turned the handle bars to the right or left with the bike on the rpms shot up even higher, to about 7k. i remember reading something about that but cant remember what it indicates just thought i would share that incase someone has some insight, i can only guess it means that cables arent connected right because its tugging them when i turn it?

but like i said i will tear it back down and see if that helps with the diagnosis. idle cable is off the bike now anyway so i'll have to reinstall that, if anyone has a specific link/how to/ pictures of the cable setting let me know i feel like that was where my problem was to begin with.

thx for all the help i appreciate it!

Have you downloaded the shop manual ? There is a specific routing that your throttle cables need to go. Based on the fact that when you turn your handlebars, they may not be routed properly, and holding the throttle open. This should be obvious when you raise the slide and see if the butterflies are closing all the way. The throttle should snap back when you release it.

Ok, my throttle doesn't return on its own and didn't when I got the bike, ill try and compare the routing diagram with how mine is setup, is it likely than my cables need to beiber replaced?

Where can I get a new idle cable spring I seem to have misplaced mine

Also I have the airbox off, opened the slide and the butterflies are closed all tight, open when I turn the throttle, but the throttle doesn't snap back, choke looks like its opening and closing correctly as well

You might have to redo your connections at the carbs, if you didn't screw the top cable in the correct position that will cause it not to snap back. Best to test befor buying new ones .. As for screw Idk , I would find one that fits for now?!

i have tried adjusting the throttle cable and it doesnt seem to be making any difference, it still wont snap back and im still idling really high, BUT if i roll the throttle completely forward, like push it further than its resting point, the bikes idle goes right down to about 1k, my idle cable spring is currently mia so i'm essentially done testing anything right now, but does that indicate that my problem is completely throttle related? should i go ahead and order new cables and if so are the aftermarket ones on ebay decent? i believe they are called motion pro? the listing on ebay shows only one cable so im assuming i just order 2? let me kno what you think im getting anxious to start riding!

I know this may seem like alot of work but.. I had the same problem and what I did was take carbs off and unhooked cables then made sure throttle cables moved freely. Then hooked up cable, adjusted to snap back, test with carbs in set position. If good then bolt down. Not good then adjust the bolt on carb side. There is a certain position that makes it snap good then there is a position that makes it snap perfect. So if your cables r good which they should then it's most likely the top cable bolt on carb side. Good luck
