Default Turn signal problem

I recently bought and installed an LEDintegrated taillight
since led dont draw as much power my signal now blinks
1000 times a minute, the guy i bought it from said i have
to use his special solid state relay which is 25 bucks to
correct the blink speed. Is this trus or can i get a relay
from radio shack that will function the same?

He also saida different route i could go is to put
resistors into all the wires but i do not want to cut
up all the wires and splice in resistors.

i got a variable load flasher relay on ebay for $5...works flawlessly. highly recommend this versus the resistor method cause they heat up VERY hot
