Streetfighter build: Joe Camel tear down starts!
Hey everyone,
I'm getting ready to start my 3rd riding season with my '97 F3.
I've been itching to go streetfighter with it from the start. Some have suggested it would be sacreligious to chop up a Joe Camel. Well, it's a rebuild status bike since 2002 so I'm not too worried about it. Plus it's way beyond stock.
I'm biting the bullet today. Once I cut the tail section off, there's no going back.
I'll post some pictures later today.
Here's the plan:
Custom solo seat tail section that will be interchangeable with a second touring tail with a pillon seat .
Twin round headlights mounted to the frame.
Custom shroud for rad and air intake.
That will be enough for this year. I may later go with a VFR750 SSSA...
The bike is already covered in chrome .
Any suggestions ? I'm still wondering what to use as a gauge cluster.
Cheers
Gerald.

I know how you feel about chopping up the Camel bike bud - I felt the same way before I started the F4i/RR on my Smokin Joe.
I'm keeping my tank w/ stock decals and Duhamel's signature. If you can. try to keep it or some how incorporate it into your design.
If not, well - whatever fits your comfort zone. At the end of the day it's all an extension to who you are and your sense of style
Good luck! looking forward to your build.

BEEP BEEP BEEP....backing up!
Hitting the brakes on my streetfighter conversion. Far too many things I want to do, and do well so I won't hurry. Also my bro picked a brand new NC 700S and will kill me if I can't ride with him this season. I'm going to take advantage of all the bodywork being removed and make a few patterns and do some maintenance.
My biggest pet peeve about this bike is the ill fitting tail fairing and poorly altered taillight mount. The taillight was mounted upside down. I may make my own edge-lit acrylic led taillight / turn signals.
So! The reassembly begins...(dammit)
