Odd thing happened today, I was riding and shifted from 2nd to 3rd and glances down and my tachometer had shot down to 0, I rode like that for a bit and eventually shifted down and started coming to a stop, it stayed stuck at 0 the entire time until i came to a complete stop/idle, then it instantly shot back up to hovering around 1.5 and I didn't have any problems for the rest of the ride.

Ideas? Loose cable or something? I'm not really sure how the odo cable works so just asking first.

EDIT: By the way, as you can see I meant to write tachometer in the title lol.

 

Most tachs run off of a pickup in the magneto coil or on the flywheel. Check for a loose connection or any damage to the wires would be my guess.
