anybody recommend any exercises or workouts to help with endurance?

WTF? Just ride the thing! And like what was said in previous posts, don't hold on too tight.

 

You do not want your nuts on the tank. You are new and just take it easy. Do not try to test the waters just yet until you are aware of your suroundings and you are COMFORTABLE. If you do ride with a group do not weave in and out of traffic at 100 mph. You will probably get hit by shaniqua on her cell phone changing lanes. If you get the white knuckles, just go by yourself on a good sunday even on a 40 mph drive pay attetion to your grip and how you sit. Good luck!!It will take time . Safety 1st bro

 

Do not use back brake. . . Its only good at low speeds, like when coming to a junction and slowing down and stuff but not at higher speeds. Trust me on this one. Here is one good technic for slow speed control : this is what u need to do when performing a U turn or going at speeds under 5 miles per hour or there abouts. Slow down to desired speed, apply little back brake and at the same time pull in the clutch to the point when it just starts to engage and hold it at that point and bring your revs up to about 3/5 k. Now the engine will still be trying to pull forward while the back brake will be holding the bike from going any faster then you want. Using this technic you can go in a straight line or in circles as slow as 2 miles per hour. And don't worry bout the clutch, its wet so it wont burn or anything. Good luck. Cheers.

 

I think the whole back brake debate is down to what you prefer, I use mine quite a lot and it seems others do not, I wouldn't say do not use your back brake as it can be bloody useful if you know how to use it properly.

 

When braking most of the weight ( i'd say close to 80-90% ) is on the front wheel so how much of the back brake can you use? I tell u , very very little. So while hoping to reduce your stopping distance you increase the chance of locking up the back and ending up with unstable bike. So unless doing emergency braking or braking in wet it has no use.
