Default i think my clutch is slipping

ok so when im accelerating full throttle my bike revs faster than it accellerates starting at about 10k in 2nd and does the same thing in 3rd and 4th and so on. i recently changed the oil about 2 weeks ago with valvoline 10w40 4stroke oil. the bike has about 28k miles on it. 1st gear still stays pretty strong but the rest feel like its just slipping. any ideas?

This just happened since you changed the oil? What specific type of oil did you use?

The symptoms sound like what can happen when you use the wrong type of oil. Our bikes use a wet clutch (oil-bathed) and some oils have detergents which can cause the clutch to slip some.

Knowing the specific type of oil you used will help.

10w40 (which is the OEM spec weight) Valvoline 4 stroke oil. and it started slipping about a week or less after the oil change. id say 200 miles or so.

I highly suspect your oil is the culprit. 28k miles is nothing for a clutch. There are 2 things I'd suggest that you do.
  1. Educate yourself about motor oils by reading the information on this site. All about oil.(I know it's a lot, but well worth it)
  2. Go to Valvoline's site to find the oil you used to see if it's meets the qualifications of having the "Friction Modifiers" in it. (you'll understand after you read the above information)

ok so i did some readin on the about oil site and i didnt see anything on the oil i used about friction modifiers. it just says on the bottle "superior protection for wet clutches". however i did use a 10w40 oil which it said to avoid..even tho the tag on my bike recomends it. i think i may do another oil change with the repsol oil. what do yall think?

well i decided to start small and adjust my clutch lever. i tightened it all the way in and it dramatically helped. it was slipping in every gear starting at about 8k at half throttle or more. however im affraid its impropper previous adjustment did in fact wear down the clutch a bit cuz it still slips a little bit at full throttle starting at about 10k. nothing like it was. not that its important but i could barely evn pull the front wheel up before now it pops up with no problem. ill prolly go ahead and fork over the $75 for a new EBC friction disc set and swap em out and i figure that should prolly cure the problem. also a fresh Repsol oil change may come into play...
