hi there Does anyone now what the engine no's start at for different years of cbr
The problem I have is that I am buying a track bike that is advrtised as a 1998 model , however it has an earlier front end i.e non floating discs.
So I am wondering if the engine is a 1998 or an earlier FN model ,
Any help will be much appreciated.

The engine numbers for each year are in the Clymer manual if you have one. I only havethe F2 manual.

This might help...someone correct me if I'm wrong.

An F3 engine will have a speedo sensor.....this is in the middle rear of the engine....where the front sproket is, look in right above it.

The F3 had a throttle position sensor on the carbsand the CBI box has weather proof connectors. F3 also used a fuel pump.

I can't tell you what the numbers mean though...sorry.
