Default CBR600FW Engine swap to 2003 600cc Engine

I guess this question has been asked many a time - so here it is again!

Can I swap a 1998 engine for a 2003 engine? The mounts appear to line up and the dimensions are very similar.

Obviously the 2003 engine has injectors whereas my original is carbs (which brings me on to my next question). Can I put carbs on the 03' engine?

The reason why. I brought the low mileage 03 engine off fleEbay for the staggering sum of 99p (The poor sod messed up his listing - yet honored the deal)

Educated responses please.

Thanks in advance

just to get things a little easier to answer, do you know what the 03 engine came out of? was it an F4i?

i would say that you would have to somehow make your bike fuel injected, i dont think you can take a FI motor n slap a set of carbs on them... but hey i have no clue lol

at any rate you could just resell it for a nice profit if you cant make it work.... OR you could make a really cool gocart or something with it haha

I had a quick look to find the engine number, only locating 'Y 089' or 'Y 098' on the cylinder head. I will have a look in the daylight tomorrow. Unfortunately my Ebay history has gone along with the answer.

There is a part of me saying just "try it", maybe using a jig to save time. What have found is that there a few notable differences between the engines I have googled. But nothing real horror show.

convert to fuel injection. carbs suck in comparison and arent set up for that motor either. post a picture of the motor.

I would definatly stick with FI. Did the motor come with everything (wiring, computer, etc)?

I would like to know also what 03 engine are you putting in your F3. I am always searching for more power for my F3.
