Default Crashed my F3 today

was hitting a long left curve and sand was on the road which made my bike slide under me and make me slide to the shoulder into the dirt/rock hill.

damage isnt too bad,
lower left fairing,
front upper fairing, headlight is still fine
left tail plastic,
bent the front upper fairing bracket,
front db windscreen
guages got pushed into the bottom of the ignition and cracked the bottom of the ignition so now key wont work
and the speedometer guage cracked so that needs to be replaced

now my questions are, should i just go race fairings and jsut get a pia foglight or something as a headlight and paint that,

or would it be easier/cheaper to juts use used oem parts and repaint it that way

also, for the ignition, what can i do about that? how will i fix it? buy a nother and just get a key made or use the same key?

The ignition and stuff can be found on ebay, as well as the rest of the parts you need. How bad is the rash? I just fixed a set of fairings for my bike, wasn't too hard, there are lots of threads in here that can help. Just use the search function for plastic repair/fairng repair.

First of all...

Sorry man! That sucks.

Get race fairings if... you want to race! You'll have to cut holes for everything, just do some searching for the OEM stuff on eBay. If you've got the jack, buy brand new plastic.

You can get some sharkskins for around $900ish for a set, and they have race or street fairings. Just don't expect them to fit exactly like OEM, they look the same, just tad bit of differences compared to stock...you'd have to look close to find the differences though. I got the sharkskinz main street fairings and it looks pretty good on the bike. Also, if you want to use your stock tail section with the race fairings, you can, but you'll need to get creative on how to make them work. And if you got with a single piece tail section, I belive you'll need to make some sort of support for your weight on the seat.

Be sure to take your time and price everything out, I fixed up my bike after my crash and while i estimated it to cost around $1500 to fix, it ended up costing over $2000 since I found out I couldn't really paint it myself. In some cases, like mine, it'd of actually been more economical to part the bike out and get another one as opposed to fixing it up.

Oh, and with the fairing stay and gauges (assuming those are broken also), they are are going to be relatively hard to obtain and tend go for a lot on eBay. Also, make sure to look up the new OEM prices for the stuff, cuz sometimes people end up spending VERY close to what the new part would cost, IE the fairing stay is $250 new, and i've seen people bid $220-230ish for a used unit that may be slightly bent anyways.

You can get a keyset off of ebay, which would include the gas cap, ignition, and helmet lock, but it's gonna cost a bit of money. There's always the option to just get the ignition and just have two keys.
