charging system question

Default charging system question

hey i just started checking out my bike i had it for a few months and now i am doing some tune up work and after i finished my bike ran like crap. then i changed my battery and it seems to be doing alright but i was wondering the voltage in the batterty when the bike is idleing and when you tack it up to 5k. if anybody could tell me that would be much apprecaited.

thanks that really helps and now i know what to do if it does blow. mine is good it just does things different then the hurricanes i have two of those and have done alot with them but this was the first time i ever went into this one. i changed the battery and its all good now i think.

Thanks Idodirt, lots of good info!

VR's and Stators usually die from corrosion at the quick connectoron the wiring harness or to the battery.

Honda knows this and has repair kits to fix the wiring harness on most of their older model bikes.

Simply check each quick connector for corrosion and clean with electrical contact cleaner.

Let dry and apply Die Electric Grease to each connector and you won't have these items fail.

Simple inexpensive maintence item to add to the to do list on your ride...
