Default Charging System Question

What readings should you get at the battery when the bike is running?

I have had a drained/dead battery problems since I bought the bike and am getting a reading of only 11.80 at idle and will rise to 12.6 when revved.

Standard charging rate is around 13.5V+ at 3000+ RPM. At idle 12.5V but remember that the battery doesn't charge while at idle That reminds me i should charge mine as it's been sitting around my garage for a few days now.

Should I be worried with those numbers?

Those numbers are low. Sounds like the R/R needs replacing.

TBT, where would be the best and cheapest place to find one? Thanks!

There's some info in this LINK that may help.

This one looks like direct plug in. I believe members like Shadow have used it. LINK

I think this is the one that will NOT work. Even though its 3-phase I think its missing a wire. LINK

I used Electrosport ESR230 because its direct plug in but looks like its out of stock at their site. It looks like Ron Ayers has it.

edit: Also
Amazon Amazon

Sorry guys but if you're charging at less than 13- 13.5 V at 3000 RPM you either have a dodgy reg rec or stator (more likely the reg/rec)
My replacement reg/rec from Electrex charges anything up to 15.5V and starts at 1400RPM, 13.5 V

Replace the battery and check the charging rate - anything lower than 13V at 3000RPM you need a new reg/rec.

Well I put on the new Electrosport R/R and am getting readings of 12.3-12.5v at idle and above 2-3,000 it is putting out 14.5v so I think that fixed my problem. It took me a long time to finally find one of these. It is nice and heavy duty looking compared to original and it has a heat sink.
