Charging system anyone!!!????
as in a car, if your alternator is shot, one way to tell is to un-hook the battery, and if it is shot, the car should shut off, Does the same apply to a motorcycle?? my bike has been dying, and i re-spaded the terminals for the regulator, and let the bike run for at least an hour, and it didn't die, but once i un-hooked a terminal on the battery, it died! Can anyone help me, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The best way to check this problem is with a multimeter.Hook up the leads to the battery and see if it is charging,if not go to the second step and locate your regulator rectifier. If this goes out your bike will drain the battery after a little while of running. The rectifer controls what your bike does with the voltage that it receives from the alt.I ran into this problem on my bike, replaced this part and now everything is fine.As far as the theory about unhooking the battery while running, try not to do that and it can lead to shorting out your electrical system.
