okay so im not familiar with the f3 cluster but i did read a how to on color change once for another model (digital speedo w/ regular tach.), i assume they would be very similar.
On that model the light comes from a couple LED's that are soldered onto the circuit/chip thing behind the gauge face. It involves taking out the gauges, separating the chip from them, then unsoldering the LED's and resoldering them with the color of your choice, or maybe multiple colors could be cool. like blue up to 6k, then orange at power and red up top.
there could be a better solution to this... like i said my info is not bike specific

Well i was looking at the back of my gauges and all i saw were little light bulbs i can pop right out but im not sure if they're giving the light or if theres a red film they just make it look like they glow orange. But i dont want to rip apart the cluster to find out so i dont mess anything up =) but i couldnt find anything online about color change that wasnt really expensive =\

superbrightleds.com is a good source for LEDs. If you can find out which size LED's are in the cluster you can find them pretty easy on that site.
My Dodge Ram had screw in LED bulbs for all the gauges...when they burnt out I replaced them all with blue LEDs from that site. Now, I just take the part # and cross it over in Ebay and you can generally safe a few more $.
I was thinking of changing the lights in my cluster of my f4i so I was kinda poking around as well.

Haven't done the hid yet, but i did order the bulbs and they are a lot brighter. Except the white ones that are meant to be spread to light up the guages. My temp gauge is barely lit. But still visible. So I think you would have to replace the green 'film' or whatever is back there behind the actual gauge to change the color.
