Chain and sprocket question
Great forum! Looking to change the chain and sprocket on my '98F3. I did search and it seems pretty straight forward. I'm just questioning the riveting part. When you install the new chain is it fairly easy to rivet the link? Any recommendations or help is appreciated.
Welcome to the board! When ya get a chance post up some pics of your ride in the new members section so you can get a proper welcome.
Chain riveting is an art. You gotta have the right tools -- chain press, riveter and dial caliper. $150 will buy you a good set that'll last you through many chains. El Cheapo can be had for $89. You'll also want to buy a couple extra master links to practice on before you actually do your own chain.
I did a write up with some pics on a 520 chain conversion -- it's for a 1000RR but the process is similar for most bikes. Write up.
