Default Chain & Sprocket question

OK guys. I think my chain and sprocket has finally had it. I am running OEM sprocket sizes and chain. I am not interested in stunting my bike or anything of that nature. I want recommendations for a good sturdy long-lasting chain. Any suggestions or recommendations will be appreciated.

RK 530. A 530 chain will last longer than a 520 or 525. May want to swap your sprockets too if the chain is worn, Have a look at them.

+1. I have the DiD ERV3 530 on my 954. Either RK or DiD will last you. I've got around 20K and about 10 trackdays on my DiD and it's not anywhere near end of life.

I am in the same boat... I am going on 17,000 miles on my original chain/sprockets. It is starting to rust a bit and makes a clunking noise if I don't lube it after 400 miles. The rear sprocket is also showing signs of wear. I called the bike shop and he recommended this down below... But the sprockets are different then the original to make it accelerate faster.

RK
Quick Acceleration Chain Kits with Lightweight Steel Sprockets
$151.95 - $169.95

FITS MODEL: CBR929RR 00-01, CHAIN: 520GXW-108, OEM GEARING: 16-43, QUICK ACCELERATION GEARING: 15-43

I was told it would be about $230 to buy individual parts for the original chain and sprockets.

Does anyone know? How much will this RK kit change the feel of my bike? Will it change the accuracy of the speedometer? How much does it change mpg?

Hey guys...Thanks for giving me some input.

Marley, seems as if we are almost in the same situation. Mine is a little closer to 18,000 miles, the chain is rusting and I have about 4 links that are constantly binding. Both sprockets are showing wear. Just not pretty right now for the bike. Do you think you will go for the Quick Accel Kit? Do you think they will hold up good?

j,
check out his thread. Mike and Hooligan have been giving me some info.

I will give the RK kit a chance. It doesn't sound like it will make that much of a difference and it is $50 cheaper then putting on the original equip.

As mentioned in the other thread, I'd stay with 530. Will last longer. Not much point in dropping to a 520 on a 929 or 954. Change the sprockets (-1/+2) for quicker acceleration if you want (but be aware that the gas mileage will drop a little and the speedometer will be off quite a bit).
