Chain and Sprocket Question???
OK OK. I have Questions. Aluminum sprockets or steel sprokets on these 1000's? Also X-ring or O-ring Chains? And the real reason I am asking is cause of this site. Looking at other bikes on here they have changed the number of teeth on there sprockets. I have always went and bought the chain and sprockets that came on the bike Flebay. Also Can someone explain the reason why to change the number of teeth on the sprockets? I don't do wheelies or stunts with this bike. I do cruiese and back and forth to work. I like to do the curves. Thanks in advance.

X ring chains are generally higher tech and should last longer. People drop a tooth or two to lower their gearing which should result in faster acceleration. On the minus side it will also result in poorer fuel mileage, greater vibes at a given speed, and probably a loss of overall top speed (if that matters to you). Do a search, this subject has been discussed a number of times before.

The gearing and chain debate is a bit like the WD40 ONE ...lol
I think the Aluminum sprockets, I recon, are only good to save weight to be honest ..
The XRing chains ? well they are high tech , cost more , the claims are more millage , but really , again I think the XRings are ok if you want to spend the extra cash (if you have it spare? ) but the good brand ORing ones are fine for everyday use ..
The gearing thing ?? hmm ?? well , if you do alot of long trips , yer drop a few teeth on the rear to save a few engine rpm's and a little bit of fuel ..
Smaller on the front if you are looking for more acceleration , but my argument against any gearing down for acceleration is, that chit , are you already using everything the 1000F can put out ??
If not ....why bloody bother ??
All in all, really , unless you have some very!! specific need to change the gearing ...why bother
They already can pull christ off the cross , accelerate like a bloody express train , and only run out of top speed if you are totally nuts !! in which case , a trip to my therapist may help you ... LOL

Forget about aluminum, they don't last long, and with a 600 pound bike, it won't make a weight difference. Try steel sprockets from Esjot. O-ring and X-ring probably doesn't make as much difference as keeping them lubed. I got the Motion Pro Jumbo tool for breaking chain and installing the side plate and rivet.
