Default Buying a R/R

when buying a r/r what specifically should i look for? can i just buy one of these $20 ones on ebay and not worry?

Ive seen a lot of talk on getting a gsxr one, and how honda revised one. So I'm just looking at specific insight on the situation

If the regs on ebay are just someone parting out the OEM type then your just getting to same one's that will crap out eventually. I have not heard of a Honda improved one? I've just bought a new VFR & been told that every likely hood that the reg will go the same way eventually. Never tried the Gixxer fix, but that would probably be the cheapest option if you can source one from a wreckers & so on. On my F3 I replaced it with a heavy duty unit & as I've said here before, mechanic had a shelf full of them being such a common problem. With the heavy duty reg, there is a minor mod in drilling a hole in the plate ( new reg was wider). So it would boil down to affordability. There is a lot on the site about on how to do the Gixxer replacement.

I just replaced mine with the revised Honda one. My old one wasn't bad per say.. but why risk it..

Whale oil beef hooked, they do have an "Upgrade". I'd go for the heavy duty (as in 2nd post by Maddhttr). The "New" Honda one still looks kinda small for the heat the buggers generate.

That post is awesome, I'm having trouble finding the revised one on ebay.

With so many options I'm having a hard time deciding lol
