But only with front brake application. I see the connector that goes into the brake lever assembly but can't find the actual switch in the parts fiche( not finding it in my service manual, tho haven't looked hard at the schematic.

I assume the brake light switch is up at the lever?

 

Yea, its up on the lever housing. Check there first. Probably gummed up switch.
