Air Filter

No! Not all filters are cleanable. Stock type paper filters are throw away. K&N, BMC, PiperCross, Uniflo Foam are cleanable. Follow the instructions. Dont use compressed air to blow cleanable filter clean. It tears the cotton/foam and ruins them. Cleanable filter usually take a special cleaner made for them. Then rinse in a soft stream of water and let air dry for a day or so then reoil them. Dont oil too much, which alot of people do. There is a fine line between too much oil and not enough.

Adding a different type of filter can produce more airflow into your carbs, which would necessitate more fuel into your carbs to readdress the balance.
Putting a stock one back on will mean that everything is still in balance, assuming you haven't got a re-jetted bike.
I went for a K+N when I replaced mine this summer, but I bought the filter element that closely resembles the OEM part.
I haven't noticed any change in the bike's performance, but I know that means I haven't done any harm. (in theory)
I do get a slightly louder induction roar.
I'm not in awe or disappointed by that fact.
The supposed advantage of adding something like the K+N is that you only buy it once.
If you service the element correctly at the right intervals, it will probably outlive the CBR.
