stiff throttle

Default stiff throttle

got on my 93 today and couldnt hardly turn the throttle its always had a slow return but now it sticks like cruise control. am i looking at new cables or could it be something else?

sounds like cables to me. over time crud can build up inside them.

They just need cleaned.. hardcore. Should be done every year. Even clean, the cables on my f2 can stick unless routed perfectly.

most cycle shops have cable cleaner. You need a tool for it. its cheap. You can use wd40 as well. Not sure if the cable cleaner is better though, but I've used both with similar results.

I had the same issue on my 91 F2. I did all the cable things and it still dragged. One day while I had the throttle off, I noticed that the handle bar is filled with rubber and there was a little hole in the bar. The rubber was squezzing out and rubbing on the inside of the throttle. The rubber was black and blended in with the bar, so I just didn't see it for some time. Once I trimmed it, throttle was back to original snappy condition.

finally got around to messing with the bike again. ended up being a layer of gunk under the throttle tube.
