Default Stiff Clutch

Finally getting to do some riding up here in Vermont. My clutch lever seems like it is a "long pull" to operate as well as needing a gorilla grip to squeeze it. The guy I got it from said he put a Barnett clutch in it. Wondering if there all hard to pull or its because of the after market clutch. The clutch action is very smooth and works fine. Looking for comments about after market levers as well. I don't want to buy those real expensive ones. Shorty's? any positive thoughts are appreciated...

If the clutch is stiff, I would lubricate/inspect the cable. This is a sign that it is about to fail!

Something I found on a used bike. The previous owner gorilla gripped the pivot bolt for the lever. Had it crushed down so tight that the lever couldn't rotate. Back off the nut underneath, back off and then seat the pivot bolt snug not crushed and then re-tighten the keeper nut. See if that makes a difference, it did for me.

Had to do some work on my F3, getting it ready to sell. After that I got my 900 out, the cable is lubed & in good working condition. Took it for a spin, nice. I am thinking it is the Barnett springs. I would still like to get some opinions on levers. I dont want to spend a fortune. Thanks.....

Default Stiff Clutch

I would replace the springs back to Honda's. I just completed my barnett clutch install and am going to be taking the springs back out. they are so stiff pulling the clutch in with ASV shorty levers is too much

the barnett springs would not be the issue here. does the lever release quickly and soft or is it a hard release as well, i believe you may want to open it up and check the clutch itself to make sure someone didnt just stick extra plates in there to fix a burnt system I see it all the time it just sounds like the lever is too tight
