Default Rough Ride Problem then Dies.

Ok well first off Hi! I'm pretty new I just bought a 1994 CBR 600 F2 and I love the thing. Today I had a little problem though. When I started my bike today I didn't notice anything but after it was heated up I went riding. I rode nearly a half a mile then I noticed the engine was running a little rough, and at full throttle it felt as it was bogging. When I got to the stop sign I could feel it bog down and it sounded like it was on 2 cylinders. Then it just died at the light. I couldn't get it started for about a half hour (I think I flooded it). Then I finally got it started after choking it then holding half throttle. I got it home and it still rode rough and sounded rough. I really think it is running on just 2 cylinders because of how rough it is and how it sounds (sounded like my friends 2 cylinder parallel). So I believe one of the coil packs has gone out or is going out that's why I'm getting the rough ride. Any others believe so or had the same issue?

Thank You!

If it was running well before this and it sounds like it was. I would suggest you test your electrical/charging system as it could be that the spark plugs just aren't getting enough juice to fire all 4 cylinders. This would typically be caused by a bad regulator/rectifier (search this forum to read all about this common problem). If it is your r/r than it is a very cheap and easy fix.

I'm not entirely convinced it's the R/R, as a bad R/R would result in battery charging issues. The battery is next inline from the R/R, and it actually serves to do more than store electricity, it's a buffer of sorts. A bad R/R will fry the battery first.

I should just write a sticky on the quick and dirty test for your battery and charging system. I don't want to write it again...
