Default Need tank/hose routing help

Pulled my tank today to get at the air filter for a cleaning. I noticed that the main fuel line was split and so I need to replace that. has anyone been able to replace the "S" bend hose with fuel line from the parts store?

Also, I see 2 other hoses coming off my tank. Both lead to nothing. According to the manual, there is also a fourth hose from the carbs as a return, but for the life of me, I didn't see the place for the connection, nor did I see a hose sitting inside there.

If anyone can help, i would greatly appreciate it. I sure as heck don't want fuel all over my engine.

Not sure on the S bend. Whatever you replace it with, just make sure its rated for fuel.

The 2 lines that come straight down from behind the petcock are vent and tank overfill. They go to nothing.

Ive never heard of the return line.

the smaller line that comes off of the petcock, connects to the side of the rocker cover ( left hand side if sat on bike)

drzed, thats the problem then I guess. I don't see any place for a smaller line off the petcock and don't see a hose sitting there waiting to be connected to anything.

In looking at the room behind the carbs and under the tank, I wonder if a small loop would work for the fuel line. With a small loop it would not kink like regular line might if I tried the S bend.

The 4th line is the vaccum feed from the left side carb. it runs frum underneath the carb at the head (vaccum nipple) to the right side of the petcock. This is the vaccum reference for the vaccum operated petcock. Many people claim to have issues with this vaccum operated petcock and modify / swap it so it will work without vaccum from the engine. It is supposed to automatically shut the fuel shutoff off when you shut the engine off so it never leaks through the carbs.

The previous owner of my bike replaced the busted s-shaped line from the tank with a regular straight piece of fuel line. Just make sure the length is appropriate and there aren't any major kinks and you should be alright.

I think it would work but looping the fuel hose under the tank also has some effects on fuel delivery to the carbs. The fuel pressure from the tank (from gravity) will need to overcome the loop to flow up to the carbs. You will need to minimize how low that loop is with respect to where the hose enters the carbs. It will be like having a p-trap used for plumbing kitchen sink drains.

I had a short split on my fuel hose right where it connects to the tank. I was getting a minor leak from it so I just cut that short piece and used a new clamp to tightly hold it in place.

As mentioned, the smaller line on the petcock goes to the vacuum connection just under the boot of carb #1.

If you're really concerned, you can just get a new s-shaped tube from Honda. Ron Ayers lists it as $7.xx, can't be that much more from your dealership.

You can get a petcock from F3 or newer F2 that is not vacuum operated. Essentially the same thing so it is a direct replacement. I have been looking for one just yesterday and there weren't any on ebay.
