Thanks again guys, I'd be lost without you!

I'm hoping that my replacement part comes tomorrow and after work I will fit the airbox, drain the fuel tank and fill it wit fresh fuel, reconnect the exhaust and hopefully my battery holds up and fires the old girl back up.

My only fear is the battery is dead (despite showing fully charged even though it has been sitting unused for 12 months) and it causes the plugs to fowl. That would drive me crazy, ha! I might try and get a hold of a multimeter before I connect it, just to make sure.

Much better! Got to work rebuilding the bike tonight, the rubber dust seal above the HT leads is a pain in the *** to seat properly. But eventually...

Finally getting somewhere! My battery is completely dead so I'll need to buy another unfortunately, I will however be purchasing a trickle charger next month to stop it going fast in the future.

I had a look at my fuel tank and its almost full (maybe 3/4 full) of petrol. I shawn a light in and it actually looks very clear inside, but I still think it will be safer to drain in since I have just rebuilt the carbs. Speaking of which, how do you drain the tank when it's off the bike? I tried just turning the petcock on, but I'm guessing there is some sort of vacuum in place stopping the fuel from coming out.

You could disconnect the fuel line from the carbs, and a connect length of fuel line long enough to reach a gas can, and start the bike up, so the vacuum line will activate the petcock... you should pop the cap open before doing so, in case it will help it to drain out faster, but if your vent hose isn't kinked it should drain fine either way.

Is it possible to do without starting the bike? I haven't ordered a new battery yet.

A few years ago I was taking the tank odd, I pulled off the fuel hoses and the fuel started pouring all of the place, I e,pitied a whole tsnk of petrol onto the garage floor, ha 0. That was a mistake I learned from! So much so that now I can't get any fuel out haha.

If the petcock is operating properly, you won't have any spillage, as it needs vacuum to pull back a diaphragm, allowing fuel to flow... as far as doing it without starting, you could just hook up a vacuum pump, used for brake bleeding and the like, and adapt a hose to connect to the vacuum spot on the petcock.

How much fuel is in the tank? If there's not too much, you could tip the tank sideways while you just remove the petcock, and let the fuel come out there... just be ready with a big enough container!

And, honestly you could also just dump it out the top!!
I tried using vacuum to activate the petcock on the red tank that came on the new bike, but it wouldn't drain, so I fear that petcock may be shot, so I put a really large funnel on a gas can, and just picked up the tank and dumped it out of the filler hole... I did it over some gravel, in case I spilled any, but I probably only lost a couple of ounces, and, when I was done there were only a few ounces left in the tank.

Well after sitting in the garage for over 12 months all my work these past few months has finally paid off:

It does sound a bit lumpy but perhaps that could be because the carbs ate out if sync? Going to order the gauges tonight so I can get it done ASAP.

I'll post a full update later as I'm off to work.

Thanks guys! I ordered a set of Morgan Carburettor Balancers last night in hope of sorting out the lumpy idle, just need to figure out a way of rigging up an auxiliary fuel supply.

Thanks again.

What a pain in the **** it was fitting the little plastic tubes into the input ports :smiley_ba got everything set up and here's the results

To be honest they were almost perfect anyway, all I did was make a few tiny adjustments. Will the results change depending on how warm the bike was? I ran it for 5-10 minutes before doing the adjustment.

A picture of the fuel supply I rigged up:
