Default popping and clicking

Alright, my F2 is making some funny noises. When I gas the throttle in gear and let off, i get some popping noises from what sounds like the motor. I get the same noise when I go to downshift. Is this enough explanation for someone to possibly have an idea? If not, tell me what else I should be listening for. Thanks in advance

Are you sure it's not the exhaust? All bikes have a little back rap to them when you let off the gas, stock exhausts just hide it better than an open flowing if you have an aftermarket.

From what info you gave I would check the cam chain tension...if you search for cam chain you will find psots with instructions on this forum...

I know for sure it's not the exhaust. I know what that popping sounds like. As to the CCT, it does the normal rattle at idle, but, if it's going out, does it pop and click when off the throttle, or, a quick rpm jump? If that's the case, I'll try to get in and look at it this weekend. Could it be the transmission? I know my shifterfork is going, it'll pop outa gear when I really jump on the throttle from first to second. Thanks again for any advice

Dang, I was hoping I wasn't going to start another CCT thread, but, looks like I've added to the many! Sorry, and, thanks for those who have responded.

Now, i've got a question as to how hard is it to change the CCT myself? Also, is this recomended? I'm semi mechanical. I installed the lift kit on my Jeep, but, havn't really done anything with engines. So, any reponses is greatly appreciated!

It is a do it your-selfer....not too hard at all...you can get an APE CCT online...I think from SportBikeDirect.com...

And I believe there is a detailed post for replacing it on this forum, just do a search...make sure you have the shop manual handy and you'll do fine.
