Ok so the seal all worked and it no longer leaks, however now the lock ring that hold the petcock to gas tank keeps slipping and the petcock comes apart where it connects to the tank. This lock ring sits inside the petcock and the nut that connects it to the tank. So I am at a loss yet again because it wont stay on the tank. If I tighten the petcock to much it just pops off breaking the seal where the nut connects to the petcock. Anyone have any ideas? I am going to the hardware store to see if I can match a replacement. I have looked online to see if I can order the specific one I need but no luck. Here is what the lock ring looks like, the arrows point to where the lockring goes.
