Default Petcock Leaking

I searched a little bit but i am coming up with nothing... i was taking off my farings today when i realized that my petcock is leaking. Its tripping slowly and im wondering if last time i took off the tank i forgot to connect back a hose but im coming up with nothing

its leaking from the small nipple at the bottom and there is no hose that attaches to it. any body knows what that is for. i went all thru the manual and it doesnt clearly state what that little nipple is for. but on my bike, it just drips

This is not from an F3. This is a vacuum petcock and the F3's have manual petcocks. Regardless, if it's leaking, then there may be a gasket kit that's available for it if you know what bike it came from, or you can install the proper petcock on your bike that is manual.

well this is not my picture, i jsut used it from google as an example... but since the it looks similar i used it. mine is manual... but it is leaking from that small nipple... a part of me wants to just use some tape or glue and seal it up but i dont want it to destroy the petcock

the manual petcock doesn't have that small nipple on the bottom. (or it shouldn't). Kinda sounds like someone put a manual switch (f3) on a vacuum controlled (f2) petcock body maybe? take a pic if possible so we can better help =)

I know on my tank I put the hose clamp too far back on the hose and it was leaking, moved the clamp and haven't had an issue since.

hey man im new to the forum, but i have a 95 F3 and had the same problem among other things...we tried to tighten it up but it would just keep leaking. I read on a site that when you buy a used one ur supposed to soak it in gasoline i think for 24 hrs so everything can seal up tight...bcuz we were having to take off my tank several times, it must have come unsealed...i ended up just having to order a new one (i didnt have to saok the new one)...i dont think they are too expensive...it took care of the problem though...

the f2 had a vacuum operated petcock, so when the bike was running it would turn on/ off automatically. the small nipple at the bottom was for the vac line to plug into. There should be a rubber diaphragm in it. maybe try pulling it apart and see if that got torn somehow. Or if they fitted a manual f3 switch to it it may just need some more gasket sealant. be sure to get the stuff approved for gasoline applications.

im not by my bike so when i get back i would check... i understand that that line was for a vac line but everything that i try to plug into there, the nipple seems too small to even hold any vac line
