started my bike up this year and it was running fine, took it to my friends house and when I went to leave I turned the key to the on position and the lights came on for a split second and went off. Battery is bad and wont hold a charge so I know the battery is bad but when we put a jump box on the battery for power it will start but chug like it has a problem running. I am thinking the stator?? PLEASE give me some input!

 

well, you know you need a new battery regardless.... so start there. put the new battery in and see if she'll start to run normal. go from there after you've worn out all the other simple possibilities.

have you taken a voltage reading while it's running off the jump? if its running bad, i don't think that's a charging system problem.

 

I agree with conrice. Fix the obvious and go from there. I hate those portable battery packs, never trust them.
