Okay, more research. What a mess of a bike I bought...

VIN number says that it's a 1994 F2. Engine number says that the motor is from a 1997 F3. That's why I have F3 carbs with a TPS, which means I DO need it or the bike isn't going to run.

Furthermore, I looked at airbox pictures for F2's and F3's. It looks like it USED to be the ram air induction system from an F3, and someone CUT OFF the majority of the "scoop" portion to fit it in the F2 frame behind the radiator and fan.

Sigh...what have I gotten myself into...

Now that I think about it...I bet the real issue is that the bike is starving for air. That would explain hesitation and why it's running rich despite the fact that it should, in theory, run lean with a straight exhaust, right?

Hi , how many wires do you have going into your ICM, and is there anything left of the DAI system

I'm not entirely sure what/where the ICM is to be honest. I'm about to hit the sack for the day, I'll grab some pics of the intake setup tomorrow and post them here.

I will say that I think I still have an F2 airbox with some F3 parts after looking at them online. I don't have a solenoid at all, just straight hoses.

What a mess.

I thought it was odd when you were mentioning the TPS unit as I couldn’t find one on the exploded parts diagram of the F2 Carb assembly.

The DAI solenoid and pipes on an F3 look like this.

Nope, I definitely don't have anything inline with the hoses. They just go straight from the two ports on the airbox to the two ports on the carbs.

Maybe the fix for the hesitation is as simple as buying an F3 airbox and lowering the radiator to fit the scoop? Although with F2 fairings, there probably wouldn't be much "ramming" of the air...

The ICM is the ignition control module a modern version of a distributor and “points” now it’s electronic and contactless.

Okay, here are a few pics of the scoop and the airbox hoses that were on the bike. Ignore my painters tape notes

I found a full airbox on eBay for $30 so I'm gonna grab it. Between that and a thorough carb cleaning I'm hoping most of my issues will be resolved. I guess we'll see...
