I bought the bike from my neighbor, its a 92 f2. He said the light flickered on and off a lot, so he replaced the bulb, and it kept doing the same thing. he said one day he turned the bike on and the light didn't work again. I will be getting a repair manual soon, but wondered if any of you guys had some direction for me to go in.

I also replaced the starter switch assembly on the right handlebar, the bike runs like a champ and starts up first click!


update: I'm going to run a wire from the positive on the battery to a fused switch, then to the headlight power wire. My manual still is not here, does anybody know which wire is the power on the headlight? Any reason not to do this?

 

Headlight turns off when the starter switch is pressed, check the wires around there.

Also check the highbeam switch and wires.

And any wires/grounds leading to the headlight.

Other than that, I can't think of anything.

 

The highbeam lights and everything are fine. The headlight is permanantly off :-(. I wonder if there is a ballast or something for the light. I'm gonna have to get out the voltage meter again

 

I would get out ye olde volt/ohm meter, and a wiring diagram. there should be a headlight interrupter that shuts the light off when you push the starter button, my guess is its bad.

 

The starter switch on my bike caused my headlight not to come on once. Come to find out it was my starter switch!Cleaned the contacts and fixed it.BUT since you already changed it i would venture to say it might be a bad connection somewhere. You might check to see if maybe you have a dirty connection or a broken wire some where. The Ohm. meter it going to be your best friend untill you trace it out, you should be able to find what color wires are for what whenyou get your manual.

Ok, we I think its the hi/lo beam switch. The horn and the turn signals work, but when i test the high low switch i'm getting no power. New switch is in order for me. thanks for the help guys
