Default cam chain guide replacement

Im going to be ripping in to do a cam chain r&r and started wondering if the cam chain guides might need to be swapped as well. I have 27,000 miles on the original guides. how likely wouldit be that these need to be replaced?? are these things really important or what??? On an unrelated note, what does the 530 or the 520 mean when refering to drive chains?? i dont know and would like to.

Default RE: cam chain guide replacement

If you're gonna tear it apart, I say go ahead and replace the guide also...if funds allow.
A 520 chain is lighter than a 530...but also has a less tensile strength.
