Default Bike runs hot

Anyone else have a problem with overheating? After about 30 mins of riding by bikes temp gauage will start to climb over the halfway point. When I come to stops at lights it climbs even higher until the fan kicks in. When it gets this hot I feel like I have to give it more gas so I dont stall out at lights. Is this normal for everyone?

You can use Engine Ice in your radiator, this will bring the temps down 10-15 degrees. You could get a switch to manually turn your fan on(turn it on b4 it gets to the halfway point on your gauge?). A good radiator flush would prob. help too.

But yeah, thats pretty much how a bike runs when it gets hotter.

It's normal- you also prob notice that after you start going again, the temp drops below half point again right? Over half way before the fan kicks on is normal.

I made a couple of changes to my f2 to help with high temp readings. First I wrapped the header pipes with thermotec wrap. This keeps the heat in the pipes until it goes below the engine. I relocated the horn from in front of the radiator by using a bracket to lower it below the radiator so it didn't block airflow. I want to put a larger radiator in some day. Something with more capacity. The F3 curved one looks ok, but mostly made the bike thinner in cross section. Needs to use the stock thermostat setup.

Also wrapped coolant hose to pump. Check out pic.

at least flush the radiator first. I had plenty of days here that were 98-104ish and my bike never passed halfway unless it was sitting and idling for more than 5 minutes at a time. Heck I never even had my fan come on since I bought it in May until a month ago. If yours is coming up above halfway when riding, time for a flush, test the t-stat, check the waterpump impeller and make sure the radiator is good and clean between all the fins. Use medium waterhose pressure to clean out anything that might be clogging up airflow.

To do the switch - splice into the lead that is coming of the radiator temp sensor. Wire that to one side of the switch, wire the other side of the switch to ground.

I think im going to wait until next year to do all major maintenance. Its already starting to get a little colder here in Cincinnati and I probably only have a month of riding left at best. Thanks for all the tips tho guys.
