battery problem
okay some of you might remember my problem from a month or so ago.. i have perfect voltage but no amps again[:@]?? what on the bike would drain amps but not volts???
i am taking the battery back that i just got a month ago but there is obviously something messed up so i dont want to put a new battery in and have it go bad again..

RE: battery problem
I don't think it's possible to draw amperage without drawing at least 1 volt. If you have a Clymer's manual I would check the rectifier. It gives you step-by-step instructions on how to test it. It's been a long time since I've taken physics, so don't flame me if I'm wrong about the electrical thing.

RE: battery problem
about a month ago i had it where it just wouldnt start, i charged the battery and lights and everything were fine it just wouldnt turn over enough to start it. i charged the battery fully and it read like 12.8 volts i think.. still good lights no starting... i took the battery in and they said it was holding a good voltage charge but not amps???? i got a new battery and its been perfect till last night...same symptoms and everything....
i am going out of town for the weekend but i will let you know what i find out..thanks for the help so far!!

RE: battery problem
They are yanking your chain telling you that, all the battery does in effect is store voltage,
you need amps to charge the battery, & anything you turn on effectivly draws amps for eg starting could take up to 60A while turning over the engine.
Have you checked the terminals on the Starter Relay/solenoid ?? sometimes they go green with corrosion a good way to check if you can turn the bike over is short across the 2 big terminals on the relay, the engine should turn over if not it could be anything from dirty terminals to a duff relay
I have no Idea how they could tell you had no amps in your battery
the best way to check your battery is get someone with a high rate discharger/battery tester
look at the cells as you do this , if any fizzzzz, that will tell you the battery is f%$ked

RE: battery problem
ok well i got a new voltage regulator/rectifier and a battery and even changed the CDI box(when i did the 900RR swap)
i put in the new regulator and charged the old battery with my charger/tender still the same problem so i got a BRAND new battery again (3rd) charged the battery and then everything was fine started right up! took it out for a ride and it was fine came home and parked it.
next time i went out to start it nothing lights were fine but no start!!! AGAIN[:@][:@][:@]
there is not even a click from the starter relay or anything!!! lights are all bright though??
i changed the motor so its not the stator or anything on the motor! because i had the problem before the swap and after??
i checked all the fuses too!
PLEASE HELP!!
