Here is the situation: Started my bike and left it runnong for about 15 minutes and the bike just shut off completeley. Then, my dumb *** jump started it with my car battery while my car was running..(a freind told me i did a baaaad thing)and the bike started and shut off again after like 5 minutes... What do u guys think??? Should i buy a new battery??? please help... I'm a new rider, just started riding this week.

It sounds like the charging system is not working. The battery should not drain if the bike is running. You could try connecting it to a trickle charger for a day and see if it brings it back up to fully charged. A Battery Tender Jr is less than $25 off eBay, including shipping.

How old is the battery? You said it's a '94 year bike. You can test the charging system by measuring the voltage at the battery when it is off. Should be 12+ volts. When the engine is running it should go up to 13-14 volts.

Edit: You can jump start off a car battery safely as long as the car is not running or you risk doing damage to the bike's electrical system.

If the battery is weak it'll die while idling. The stator doesn't really kick in till about 4.5k rpm.

Check your electrical system with that diagnostic roadijeff linked, could be your stator, r/r, coils, several things, and it's possible you shorted your ENTIRE wiring harness jumping that thing with a started car, that's usually VEEEEERY bad, don't wanna worry you man, but I wish you luck.
