When I roadraced F2s in the mid-90s,we would tape off the tachometer,and 8k rpm was the lowest we would let it drop. Never a hiccup.

Don't hate on the guy for riding under 6k. Not everyone is an adrenaline junkie.

live4liftin: your charging system won't charge the battery below a certain rpm (someone else chime in with the actual number), so you may want to cruise a bit higher in the rev range for the sake of your battery.

Round 4k rpm is the general accepted point when the stator kicks in.

And yeah, lay off the guy y'all. Till I knew my bike, my tires and my skill I barely peeked over 6k too.

Now I rarely shift below 8k

its tough to get over 6k in metro areas unless your riding like a tool... not to say i've never done it, but maybe he doesnt want to be the guy riding 11k in first gear through a school zone

Between stop signs on short blocks? I rarely get out of 1st gear

Sounds like everybody on here does some pretty hard riding. What kinda miles on yours guys's odo are you looking at???

Live i have 38k on mine. wether original or not idk but thats where its at an i bought the bike almost 6 months ago with 35 an a half K... im a daily rider

Get this kid to live a little and quit being a pv$$y. You are not going to make friends riding that carefully and slow.
