Heres what I started with two years ago. Pretty much stock.

About six months ago she transitioned into this-

Hate to say it but about a week after I painted it white I layed it down... So along with repainting I decided to do a tail swap- 05 gsxr 1000 race tail.

This is pretty much the concept of what Im shooting for, a raised subframe with modified mounting brackets.

The tail section I picked up on ebay busted up. Ive already begun to repair the cracks and remove the shotty plate/rivet job it came with. Along with this body mod Ive decided to install a stage 1 jet kit, new shorty exhuast, integrated tail light, repainting, f4i shock, and standard mantinance. Pulled the radiator off for a flush and completed the valve adjustment.

Here is where the projetct is currently at

As of this evening I sprayed the frame with paint and its ready for the clear.

Ill post some new pix as the work goes on. Thanks for looking!

Let's see some more progress pictures! It looks like you fitted that GSXR tail really well. And didn't even cut any frame off- nice job. Have you figured anything yet for the rear lights or battery compartment?

More progress pics. I'll show you mine if you show me yours ~_-

GSXR tail is really going good. Reinforced the fiberglass, cut out those aluminum hold brackets, and lastly more sanding than I really care to mention...

You guys will prolly notice in the old pix the plastics were matte white but Im changing all that up with this one. Should make the bike stand out far better than before.

First clear coat on these and several other pieces this evening and hope to knock out the rest tomorrow. The tire hugger has been modified with the upper section brought to a point and painted black. Ill throw up a pic of it when its complete.

My battery box had to be cut down for it to fit in the frame. Installed it and the F4i shock today.

Lastly I cut 8 1/2" off the pipe. Gonna try and find some aluminum for a stay bracket and Im thinking about reinstalling the Yoshi plate on the remaining pipe. I was going to mount a stub exhaust but it didnt fit the lines of my bike. Engine mods are slow going as Im still waiting for parts to get here.

Update! Toss out a few pix of how this project is going.

The stock mid pannels provided the perfect flow between new and old. I prefer to use the older stock parts if I can. They may need modification but at least it keeps some of my 91's original look.

I started the cut with a die grinder but the low rpms of a cordless drill kept the cut-off wheel from melting the plastics and saved a lot of time. The plastic stay brackets that are on the waste plastic Ill weld to these mid pannels.

Again, I went with the old but freshened up the lines. The f2 is all about curves so the rear needed edge to compensate for the sharper tail section.

As you guys can see most of the body work has been completed, new grips, seat, exhaust bracket, and mirrors. Whats missing are turn signals, undertail, and Im not finished with the can. I want to rivet the Yoshi plate back on.

The wires that are visible in the bat box have been cleaned up since this shot.

On the first trial run I broke down and replaced the battery. Turns out its something else in the system, stator or reg Im guessing. The bike is 20 years old still running the stock electronics and had been operating great. Ive ordered a stator, reg, and solenoid and will update all of the old stuff.

This fall I may add some more modifications so any ideas would be great.
